UDS appoints Dr. Abdul-Rahaman as Dep. Director of Business Directorate

Senior Lecturer and Researcher in the Agribusiness Department of the University for Development Studies, Dr. Awal Abdul-Rahaman has been appointed as the Deputy Director of the University’s Business Directorate.

The Agribusiness and Value Chain Economist shall in his new position, assist and complement the Director’s work in meeting the core values and goals of the Business Directorate.

The Directorate has over the years offered entrepreneurship and innovation couching to students and alumni of UDS and has through the Vice Chancellor’s Business Innovation Challenge, given over GH¢135,000 cash support to student entrepreneurs while offering incubation training to many.

About the New Deputy Director

Dr. Awal Abdul-Rahaman is an Agribusiness and Value Chain Economist in the Department of Agribusiness of the University for Development Studies.

He is stationed at the Nyankpala Campus where he teaches and conducts research.

Dr. Abdul-Rahaman obtained his PhD in Agricultural Economics from the Institute of Food Economics and Consumption Studies at the University of Kiel in Germany. He had both his Mphil and BSc in Agribusiness from the University of Ghana.

His research interest focuses on Agribusiness and Value Chains for Economic Development, Agrifood Systems Development, Microfinance and Econometric modeling.

Dr. Abdul-Rahaman has published extensively in peer reviewed journals and has jointly published papers with renowned world Food Economics and Policy Professor, Prof. Awudu Abdulai of the University of Kiel, Germany.

He has done numerous works around Sustainable Agriculture, improving livelihoods of farming communities, climate change adaptation strategies, etc.
